ZS155 Zongshen into Skyteam Skymax 50 WIRING HELP PLEASE
OK so in the name of power and speed I decided I wanted a (much) bigger engine in my Skyteam Skymax (DAX clone). Originally it had a little 50cc, lots of fun until you're redlining at 40MPH.
So, since I've ridden a pit with a 155 in and LOVED it I thought hey why not get on of those? So I did. Now I've come to fit it and the wiring is baffling me.
The original 50cc engine has a 5 wire stator and 4 wire VREG/rectifier. The usual white, yellow, black, white w/ red tracer, yellow w/red tracer.
The Zongshen is fitted with a 12v stator which consists of 2 yellows, 1 red w/ white tracer, 1 green, 1 green w white tracer, 1 blue w/ white tracer. (part no. TRC-5011 from TBoltUSA). This came with a 5 pin vreg/rectifier.
Now from what I know and have worked on in the past, the top 3 pins of the vreg/rectifier are AC in, and the bottom two are DC out; is that correct?
Really do not wanna be plugging it all in and blowing every bulb when I get to decent revs.
Sorry for the long post, just hoping someone can shed some light.
And sorry again if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find anything.
Peace and love
/Pete

Re: ZS155 Zongshen into Skyteam Skymax 50 WIRING HELP PLEASE
do you have a photo of the 5-pin reg-rec? or a sample photo link from web ?
i assume you mean you have the reg-rec as in "female socket" model, without integrated 5-wires leaving out of it ?
a sample of outlet plug type: https://www.mikesxs.net/parts/img250/24-2085.jpg
as an sample, what you have is not like this ?
https://www.vmcchineseparts.com/prod...ao-ata250d-atv
http://2120199.cloudcommercepro.com/...phase5wire.png
-"the top 3 pins of the vreg/rectifier are AC in,"
that would be mean 3-phase charge system, 3-phase winding.
and on a chinese, as usual there is no trusting on a "industry std" for wire coloring..
did does "TBoltUSA" database have any pinouts scheamtics ?
they dont have 5-pin reg-rec's listed as shop....when i checked...

Thanks for the reply Cag.
Yes it is without the connector, just give pins. Model MT12V8-Z04 1510J13. I did think it was wired like that.
I checked through all TBolt guides and managed to wire up the digital CDI and get spark so I'm at least that far. As for electrics they're all for 4 pin vregs.

Re: ZS155 Zongshen into Skyteam Skymax 50 WIRING HELP PLEASE
Excuse me for necroing - thought I'd add some slight closure.
Seems the VREG/rec I was sent was wrong, but there's a direct replacement on eBay that cost like Ł23 posted which is literally just plug n play, one of the yellow wires to a yellow and the other to the white on original loom. I did at first try the original VREG/rec that came with the 50 but that was no good, actually blew my front sidelight/running light (whatever you wanna call it). The only downside of having to buy that VREG/rec is it's from Germany only, so took a bit to get to me in UK.
Nevertheless she's up n running and oh my is it quick! Exactly what I wanted! Bit dangerous mind, will lift in 3rd n 4th if you slap it wide open
Thanks again, and ride safe all!
/Pete

Will the fly wheel of the 49cc fit is so I'd use that and the stator 49cc sometimes uses lighter flywheels

Nah, the one that came with the engine is already a lightened flywheel and the one on my 50 is full size. As I said anyway, up n running now
Here's the VREG/rec on eBay Cag http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301995103083
What gave it away was the
- Potzenialfreie Lichtmaschiene is recognizable by 2x Cable color (Yellow)
- Rectifier is required if you want to operate with the YX engine light
bridge ignition plus the brown / white cable in the lamp housing - (SkyTeam)
in the listings description.

Re: ZS155 Zongshen into Skyteam Skymax 50 WIRING HELP PLEASE
ok so, that is the 3rd model that i mentioned to you on PM. which mentioned i have also in collection.
i mentioned that it is a FullWave version and is used on various GY6 scooters like 150cc.
so if you end up needing another1, you can find it from UK also if you look search for "Gy6 150cc FullWave reg-rec".
no need to source from Germany, if it makes trouble...
thanks of all the details and the topic, was enjoyable.
