Tight gears
Hi there, new to the forum but having some issues with my daughters bike.
It's a 125 semi auto mini pit, but finding the gears are really tight to shift. I've had the bike for a spin and even I struggle to change them.
It's got 4 up gears.
Is there any suggestions or options to slacken them off? I contacted the seller, pit bike spares Ltd, they suggested they were just tight as the bike was bought brand new.
On the verge of buying a heel/toe shifter instead
All help much appreciated

Thanks, not long had a service so the oil is ok plus it's checked before every outing. Will try the clutch adjustment and see if that helps. It does occasionally drive on its own at idle when 1st is selected which would also suggest the clutch needs some adjustment.
Will give that a bash and report back
Thank you

Re: Tight gears
Did you build it or the shop? Check the clutch cable is routed correctly and there's no tight kinks or pressure on any part of the cable. You'd be suprised at how many people have clutch/gear issues through incorrect routing..... worth a check. Does the clutch feel smooth or tight like it's binding?

Suspecting it's a sticking clutch spring, gonna strip it down and have a look, worst case it's Ł35 for a new clutch basket

Well all sorted after dropping the oil, a lot of shale deposits since it's mainly a shale bing where she rides.
Adjusting the idle and fuel mixture would have helped.
Although have found out that the bike is also chewing plugs but suspect a faulty CDI for that since it's only done it since the bike has been washed.

Re: Tight gears
Dry the cdi with a hairdryer
Make sure the gap is set right
Look for any brakes in the ht lead
