Question Bike Recommendation & General Advice!

Hi guys,

Hoping for some advice on a decent budget bike.

Won't want to spend anymore than £500 max, so something in that price range.

Also, what am I looking for in a decent bike...e.g.
  • Ground to seat dimensions?
  • Engine size?
  • Front & Rear wheel sizes?
  • Engine brand?
  • Fork type?
  • Gearbox type? (semi-auto, manual?)
For size info, I'm 24 and around 5ft10, 10.5 stone.

I currently ride DH/Freeride mtbing so general riding isn't a problem, plus I'm happy with gear shifting on a normal motorbike.

Any advice and comments would be excellent, thanks!

Il just begin with... I aint demon. (just hope you dont mean me cause I aint nothing)

If you want a solid bike like race worthy and you dont mind a 125 then Id recommend the FK1 so Id put the champagne away 1st. Other than that your looking a stomp or demon

look past stomp and demon mate there are bikes out there that are just as good but usually people are lazy and automatically reply 'stomp or demon' they are good bikes but there are other bikes too!

Yeah, totally agree, why not go for a Bulldog, although it's only a 125 it's still just as good as a stomp or demon 110

its not a matter of just replying demon or stomp but when someone is on a £500 budget what else am I spose to say? cause if money was no object I would build it myself with what I want on it or buy from ooracing,BBR or Wanch

Ok being that your 24 and have experience with downhilling etc already I would say a 140cc will satsfy your needs nicely.

Wheels wise I would say go for 14 front and 12 rear.

Bike height is not really an issue you can go for any but Id reccomend a medium sized pit, not the tiny ones.

Good Engine brands that you will see quite often are Lifan and YX.
(Go for the YX if you want a bit more oomf, but Lifan is still a very good and reliable engine)

There isnt a hugh selection of forks as your budget may not allow you to get the higher range of products. Just start with some upside downs, you can always upgrade to some Fastace etc ones after.

If you can ride a manual bike then go for the manual bike, more fun, simple as.

A few bikes you should look at,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUPER-STOMP-X-...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PACE-140-R-PIT...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EVO-140cc-140-...QQcmdZViewItem

Hope that makes things clearer.

Re: Bike Recommendation & General Advice!

Just to let you know im in a similar position,

Lookin for a bike, im 21 and 6ft, weighing the same as you.

I want the new stomp but it all boils down to which has the cheapest shipping cost to Jersey as thats where Im from.

Stomp are looking at charging me £140!!!

Other places range from £60-£95.

I don't know what to do lol.
