sorry ignored your last post, compression is good too.
i cleared both jets before i started etc. i have tried adjusting the mixture screw though but surely it should still idle?

I had a similar problem with the TZR engine yonks ago.
Turned out to be a faulty stator.

yes i've seen that before but timing in cam sprocket and stator both right

well if its running on choke then its the mixture.
is it filter or air box?
is the carb clean inside?
fuel line kinked?

filter is off
carb is clean
new fuel line, no kinks

no idea tbh, made some new manifold gaskets and flattened the base of the manifold as it was on the piss, just fiddled with the mixture, thanks for your help dude, and every one else that posted. still on the original carb too

Sounds like it had a blocked float needle valve. what happens is **** blocks the float needle valve then the bowl cant fill with enough fuel to run the engine. ive had this problem many of times in the past.
