standard vs usd ?

this has been on my mind for a while .. whats the difference between standard forks you get with a pit bike compared with usd forks ?

obviously if you go and buy some marazoochi usd's etc then there will be a huge difference but i mean the 'cheaper' usd's like at a max £150 the fast ace ones...

im more concerned about supermoto than mx so jumping does not apply ... does the pit handle/feel better with usd's or not ?

well if you compare it like that and you have either types of forks setup how you like, then there is no difference.

Re: standard vs usd ?

well motogp gp bikes seem to use usd's (obv really expensive ones) so they must have some good use on the track

Generally speaking USD's are stiffer as the thicker tube is at the top.

Re: standard vs usd ?

as mr sheene said, the whole point is that they give more stiffness, for a pit i dont think that really makes much difference to be honest but with the more expensive ones you get full adjustability by twisting a few screws so there easier to set up for different tracks and different rider weights, riding styles/preferances ect.

ive been looking into it a fair bit but i still cant justify forking out £200+ for some better ones even tho mine are crap.... mabey im just too tight tho

Re: standard vs usd ?

Yup USD's are stiffer, but heavier, stiff is good until you lose feel with the front, RWU forks will give you more feel but you may get a bit of twist when hard onthe brakes (less precise)
